2. Not lifting heavy
Women have a lot to gain from lifting weights, but confining yourself to 2-pound dumbbells won’t make much of a difference. I’m not saying you should pick up a 100-pound dumbbell either but don’t be afraid of heavier weights.
“Heavy” is relative, so find a level of resistance that you’re comfortable with and can safely handle. Unless you’re from another planet and have superhuman genetics, your fear of getting too big too quickly is nearly impossible to realize.
It will take a few years to build muscle as a female, not days or weeks. If you’ve lifted weights and got bulky, there are lots of reasons why and most of them probably don’t even have anything to do with muscle growth.
“You’re there to work, not look cute.” this should be printed and hanged in every gym.
