There’s a lot of information about women and lifting on the Internet, so a Google search can be equal parts helpful and overwhelming. Here’s are some common misconceptions that I’ve personally dealt with or have encountered amongst women I’ve met or spoken to online.
1. Stopping short of making ugly faces
When you lift weights and put nearly all your effort into those last few reps, your facial expression will most likely reflect that unless you have a damn good poker face. Lose that fear of not looking pretty the entire time. Everyone makes ugly faces. People will understand why you’re making ugly faces. I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve caught people turning away because they couldn’t take my lifting face. Lol. You’re there to work, not look cute.
“You’re there to work, not look cute.” this should be printed and hanged in every gym.
